Unabridged birth certificate
When traveling with a child, he or she has to produce an unabridged birth certificate from 01 JUNE 2015, in respect of that child at any SA port of entry. This applies to:
- SA traveler’s traveling internationally and returning to the Republic from another country.
- Foreign nationals traveling to and from the Republic who require a visa to visit SA.
- Foreign nationals traveling to and from the Republic who do not require a visa to visit SA.
Please note that most Embassies require an unbridged birth certificate for children when applying for a visa on a South African passport.
British Airways prepares to roll out seven new routes
May looks set to be the busiest month yet this year for British Airways, as it launches another six new short-haul routes and one new long-haul route from London. The star attraction is the new daily service from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur, which will appear on the departure board for the first time on May 27th, operated by a Boeing 777 aircraft.

New security procedures at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
Kenya airport authority has introduced new procedures to step up security at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Effective 17 April 2015, all incoming traffic to JKIA will be screened at the newly constructed primary security screening yard. The facility is expected to centralize airport access screening for vehicles, passengers and pedestrians visiting the airport, thus enhancing security surveillance.
New app makes visa applications simpler, faster
UK company eGoVisa has introduced VisaPort – a new, free smartphone app that aims to reduce the stress of making visa applications.
Android and iOS (iOS6.0 and above) are currently available with a Windows version coming on stream by the end of May, and the Android version is available on Google Play.
Monarch Airlines adds additional routes for winter 2015/2016
Monarch, the leading scheduled airline to leisure destinations, have announced additional routes to its winter schedule for 2015/2016; on scale from Birmingham,Leeds Bradford, London Luton, London Gatwick and Manchester airports.
UK airport installs new security scanner
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is to install a new X-ray machines and a hi-tech security scanner within the next few months. The device known as a “body scanner”, will replace the existing walk-through security metal detector at the city’s second airport. It uses “millimeter wave technology” to scan passengers in order to detect prohibited items, making it faster to pass through security. The scanner is currently used by more than 250 airports worldwide.
Turkish adds Portuguese destination
Turkish Airlines has begun operating to Porto it’s second destination in Portugal. The airline currently operates to Lisbon. Flights between Istanbul and Porto are operated four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Limpopo welcomes new Peermont property
Peermont’s newest property, the Thaba Moshate Hotel Casino and Convention Resort in Burgersfort Limpopo, has officially opened its doors. The resort is 30 minutes from Ohrigstad and close to the Panarama route, 170km from Polokwane.
