American Airlines secures joint operating certificates with US Airways

American Airlines has received a single operating certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration for American and US Airlines, marking a major milestone in the integration of the two airlines. The news is one step closer to the end of US Airways, with the brand expected to disappear from markets in the next year.

British Airways adds dozens of holiday flights from Gatwick

British Airways is adding 48 flights to 14 European destinations this October half-term from Gatwick. The extra service will be added to Bai, Cagliari, Catania, Naples, Malaga, Ibiza, Heraklion, Rhodes, Thessalonkiki, Paphos, Dubrovnik and Faro as well as new routes Dalaman and Bodrum.

Exit Checks introduced at UK ports, airports and railway stations

Exit checks have come into force at the airports, ports and international rail terminals in the UK. It is hoped that the checks will improve the government’s understanding of who is leaving the UK and create a clear picture of who is staying in the country. This will also help the police and security service track the movements of the known criminals and terrorist.

Oman Air launches new services to Goa, India

Oman Air has launched a brand-new service between the Omani capital of Muscat and Goa, India. The new service which was announced in January 2015 and started earlier, offers four flights per week.

Egypt backtracks on visa on arrival changes for British travelers

Officials in Egypt have backtracked on plans to stop British tourists visiting the country from obtaining visas on arrival. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has originally revealed plans to requiring Britons travelling alone that is outside of organized tours, to apply for a visa before travel from May 15th.

Bahrain further liberalises visa regime for overseas visitors

Following on from the new visa policy announced in September 2014, the government of Bahrain has announced a second phase updates which will allow business visitors and tourists to spend longer periods of time in the country. The move also improves ease of access for GCC residents and visa holders.

Kulula new procedure to transport domestic pets and live animals

As of the 4 May 2015 Kulula will no longer be accepting live animals and domestic pets at all Kulula check-in counters (excluding service dogs which are permitted at check-in and in the cabin). This policy also applies to British Airways check-in counters and flights.
