Tunisia scraps visas for S.A passport holders

The Tunisian embassy in Pretoria has confirmed that South Af- rican passport holders no longer re- quire a visa to enter Tunisia for a stay of up to 90 days.

ACSA to crack down on hand lug- gage allowance

Airports Company South Africa and airlines will roll out a campaign from February 2 at all SA airports to enforce hand luggage regu- lations. The campaign will inform and educate passengers and travel agents about the prescribed restrictions and the impact on travelers. If hand bag- gage does not comply, the passenger will be referred back to the check-in counters to check in the baggage as hold baggage. Extra fees may apply, as per each airline’s guidelines. The enforcement of this programme will be led by airlines operating at Acsa airports and supported by the South African Civil Aviation Authority.

Delta opens new lounge at Heathrow

Delta has opened its exclusive Delta Arrivals Lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 3. The airline’s BusinessElite passengers and SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members arriving from the United States have complimentary access to the new facil- ity, which is the only one of its kind on the Delta network.

Delta launches direct London – Phil- adelphia service

Delta and Virgin Atlantic Airways will expand their codeshare partnership between the UK and US this year with the intro- duction of Delta’s daily non-stop ser- vice from London to Philadelphia. Starting on April 8th, the service will be Delta’s eighth US destination from Heathrow.

More options offered by Delta

The airline will be splitting its aircraft into five different fare classes from the 1st of March, with two ‘economy op- tions’. Delta customers will have the following options.

Main Cabin experience is provided everywhere Delta flies. On long-haul international routes, main cabin pas- sengers will receive complimentary beer, wine and spirits as well as a meal service. Passengers will also re- ceive a Delta sleep kit.

Basic Economy offers Main Cabin service with fewer flexibility options available. It is not available yet on in- ternational long-haul routes. Passen- gers will have no advance seat selec- tion and won’t be able to make any changes to their itinerary. They will, however, still receive complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and snacks on most flights.

Delta Comfort+ offers an upgraded experience on all two-cabin aircraft around the world. On long-haul in- ternational flights, Delta Comfort+ customers will receive extra seat re- cline, a meal service and complimen- tary pillow, blanket and sleep kit.

Delta One, formerly BusinessElite, is offered on long-haul international routes as well as between New York- JFK and Los Angeles or San Francisco. Customers on Delta One will get the chance to be the first to board the plane, take advantage of the full flat- bed seats and enjoy several other premium facilities.

First Class is offered on short-haul international and domestic routes. Selected international flights may of- fer Business Class service in lieu of First Class. First Class customers will receive complimentary snacks and drinks as well as have the opportunity to be the first to board the plane.

Upgraded Boeing 777 for Air France Africa Routes

From March, Air France will operate a Boeing 777-300 equipped with the latest cabin classes to Libreville, Gabon; Douala, Came- roon; and Malabo, Equatorial Guin- ea. The aircraft features a designer suite in the La Première cabin and improved Premium Economy and economy cabins.

Fewer toll gate shocks with new online tool

Drive South Africa has launched an interactive Toll Road Cost Calculator that uses the Google Maps interface. The tool helps road user’s budget for a trip by quickly cal- culating a journey’s total toll road costs. The websites for the South Afri- can National Roads Agency and the AA, as well as others, publish South African toll fees on an annual basis, but none of these sites provide a way of calculating the total cost for a par- ticular trip. The calculator uses a database updat- ed with the latest Sanral rates (physi- cal toll gates only; not e-tolls).
