Australian Visa Updates and Clarifications
The Christmas rush is about to start and the Australian High Commission would like to highlight a few issues. Christmas processing times: applicants are advised to apply well in advance for their visas if they want to travel over the peak period. The Australian High Commission suggest that applicants lodge their visas on-line at: www.border.gov.au. The visa processing time is 20 working days or 1 month. Incomplete applications may be refused and late lodgments will cause delays and the Australian High Commission will not give any guarantees that visas will be finalised on time. A confirmed airline ticket is not a visa requirement Biometrics is a standard requirement for applicants, appointments are to be made to do their biometrics. ETA passport holders who can lodge on–line are exempted from biometrics. Immiaccount issues: Do not choose the “postal option” when loading applications onto the immiaccount. The immiaccount is an on-line system and no documents are generated and sent to postal addresses. Please ensure that biodata is captured correctly on the immiaccount.

According to the Government of Canada’s website, travellers will be allowed to board flights without an eTA until the 9th of November from the 10th of November passengers flying to or transiting through the country are required to apply for an eTA before their flight. Applicants will receive an eTA approval by email. In most cases this approval process takes minutes.
