Cathay Pacificand SAA – Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Device

Please be advised that there is a total ban on the carriage of Samsung Galaxy note 7 which has now been enforced by CAD (Computer Aided Design), IATA and FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Passengers must take notice that all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone devices are prohibited on all Cathay Pacific and Dragonair flights with immediate effect, such devices must not be transported on their person in carry-on baggage or in check-in baggage on all of our flights. SA EXPRESS FLIGHTS SA Express will resume operations on its Johannesburg – Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg – East London and Durban – Cape Town routes. The airline recently announced its intention to withdraw these services, however it has now decided to resume the services on reduced frequencies.

Botswana Signs on for Unabridged Birth Certificate Requirements

In a move that has shocked the indus-try, Botswana has introduced similar requirements for children travelling into and out of the country. Minors travelling through Botswana’s borders will be required to produce certified copies of their unabridged birth certif-icates in addition to their valid pass-ports with immediate effect.

Britsh Airways – Unaccompanied Minors

Unaccompanied Minors travelling on British Airways Domestic and Regional flights will pay the adult fare.

Nigerian Visa Applications

Nigeria has changed its requirements for visa applications for South Africans. Please check with Grayston Travel.

Egyptair Introduces Self-Tag Baggage Service

EgyptAir passengers can now print their bag tags at home. To access this service passengers need to visit EgyptAir’s website check in and select ‘Print My Tag’. The tag must be printed on an A4 sheet of paper. Customers can then place the tag into a plastic holder which can be collected at the airport or EgyptAir’s offices. The new service will only be available to passengers on flights operating between Cairo and Milan, and the Cairo to London Heathrow route.

Emirates Launches New Direct Service to US

Emirates will launch a daily service between Dubai and Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport on the 15th of December serving the south Florida area, including Miami and West Palm Beach. The non-stop service to Fort Lauderdale will be operated by a Boeing 777-200LR in a three-class configuration, eight first-class suites, 42 business-class lie-flat beds and 216 economy-class seats.

Suspend Peak Season Biometric Capturing BARSA

The Department of Home Affairs must suspend biometric capturing at South Africa’s airports for the duration of the peak season said the Board of Airline Representatives South Africa (Barsa). A shortage of trained immigration officials capable of capturing biometrics is leading to lengthy delays for international travellers, even causing them to miss connecting flights. The decision by the Department of Home Affairs to not employ additional immigration staff due to budget constraints will need to be re-assessed before December.

Kenya and Emirates Suspend Flights

Emirates and Kenya Airways will both suspend flights to Abuja indefinitely. Emirates can confirm that it’s suspending its four times weekly service between Abuja, Nigeria, and Dubai. The decision was made after a review of the airline’s operations to ensure the best utilisation of its aircraft fleet for its overall business objectives. The airline continues to serve Nigeria with a daily flight to and from Lagos.

Fastjet adds Harare

Fastjet has added a flight on Sundays to its Johannesburg-Harare service, effective of the 6th of November.
