Australian High Commission

Please be advised that the Australian High Commission’s processing time for a visa is approximately +-45 days from the date of biometric submission at the TLS application Centre. The Australian High Commission strongly suggests that tickets should not be confirmed or purchased prior to visa approval. All applicants must submit their biometrics at the TLS application centre within 10 days of the completion of the online application process. Incomplete applications will delay the online application process.

Mango – Fast Track

Fast Track will enable passengers booked on the Mango G and Y class to make use of any of the Fast Track facilities available. Passengers booked through the SAA Codeshare on Mango G and Y class will be able to make use of this facility as well. Any SAA Voyager Gold, Platinum or Life Time passengers booked on Mango may also make use of any of the Fast Track options available as long as they produce their Voyager card.

A fast track lane will be created at the check in counters identified by the FIDS board reflecting “Fast Track”. There will be a Mango Carpet in front of the Fast Track counter. Once the passenger has checked in the Mango guest service agent will advise the passenger of the Fast Track options.

Jet Airways Halts International Flights

Jet Airways has cancelled all its international flights including those between Mumbai and London. The airline once had 120 aircraft and is now believed to be operating only 14 as it struggles to pay leasing firms. Under the rules of India’s aviation regulator DGCA, airlines must have a minimum fleet size of 20 aircraft before they are permitted to fly internationally.

Morocco – Security Alert

Travellers are advised to exercise caution in Morocco due to terrorism. Terrorist groups continue to plot attacks in Morocco targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls and local government facilities.

UK – VISA Free Travel Even After BREXIT

There has been confirmation from the European Parliament that UK citizens won’t need a visa to travel to Europe regardless of whether Britain leaves the EU with or without a deal. The ruling means that UK citizens can travel to the EU visa-free for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

Mozambique – Ground Handling

National Aviation Services say it will offer comprehensive ground-handling and cargo services in Mozambique from July. This will cover ramp passenger and engineering services and include check-in, boarding, ramp handling, maintenance, cleaning as well as import and export cargo handling and storage for scheduled and ad-hoc airlines at all airports in Mozambique.

USA – New York Declares Measles Emergency

Unvaccinated people living in certain areas in New York City will have to get the measles vaccine or be issued violations or possibly fined as a public health emergency was declared. A public health emergency has been declared in New York City as it grapples with one of the largest measles outbreaks in decades.

Argentina – Health Alert

The National Ministry of Health in Argentina has confirmed a cases of measles tourists visiting Buenos Aires, Iguazu and Montevideo. Travellers are advised to have all the necessary vaccinations before visiting Argentina.

Honduras – Health Alert

The Honduras Ministry of Health has reported a significant increase in Dengue Fever. Dengue carrying mosquitos typically live indoors and are often found in dark and cool places such as in closets, under beds, behind curtains in bathrooms and on porches. Use insecticides to get rid of mosquitos in those areas.

Sri Lanka – Face Coverings Banned

Sri Lanka has banned face coverings in public following a spate of attacks any face garment that “hinders identification” will be banned to ensure national security. Sri Lanka remains on high alert eight days after Islamist attacks that hit churches and hotels. Dozens of suspects have been arrested but local officials warned that more militants remained at large.
