Grayston Travel staff will not be in the office from the 23rd of December 2019 and will be back in the office on the 6th of January 2020, however we will have a full team during Christmas and New Year working on laptops making

TIC Deems SAA as it is too Risky

Travel Insurance Consultants (TIC) has excluded SAA from its Travel Supplier Insolvency (TSI) benefit with immediate effect. “Our re-insurers have instructed TIC to exclude SAA on our TSI benefit,” says head of trav-el insurance, Jason Veitch. “TIC will be informing all travel management companies of the withdrawal of cover. This notice in no way prevents your own commercial decision to sell SAA airline tickets.”

Tunisian Visa Required for SA Passport Holders

Effective December South African passport holders will require a visa to enter Tunisia. Applications must be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to travel.

FIJI – Measeles Outbreak

A measles outbreak has a sparked travel advisory for Fiji as six people have been quarantined. Authorities are conducting a vaccination drive in the surrounding area and are urging any travellers to get immunised before they leave the country. Medical assistance should be sought if any of the symptoms of measles are experienced.

SAA Suspends JNB – Hong Kong

South African Airways will suspend flights between Johannesburg and Hong Kong until the 14th of December. The airline says it needs to recover from losses incurred on the route which used to operate four times weekly and refocus its resources.

TAAG will Launch JNB – Lagos Route

TAAG will commence a twice weekly flight from Johannesburg to Lagos via Luanda from the 16ths of December. The flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays.

London – Major Upgrades for Baggage Handling at Standsted

The baggage handling system at London Stansted is being upgraded. The upgrade will include overhauling the network of conveyor belts, lift and chutes below the main terminal. Check-in areas will also be renovated and high-tech ‘Standard 3’ baggage scanners will be deployed as part of the upgrade.

Belgium – Travel Advisory

From Thursday the 5th of December to Sunday the 8th of December Eurostar services in the UK and Belgium are expected to be affected by industrial action by railway work-ers in France the UK FCO reports. Cancellations are expected and travellers are advised to check services before travelling.

Europe – Travel Safety Warning

Tourists in Europe are advised to remain vigilant following two major knife attacks in London and The Hague. As Christmas approaches, terrorism warnings from the FCO remain in place to tourists heading to Europe for the holidays.

Air Zimbabwe Resumes OPS

Air Zimbabwe has resumed its normal flight schedule for both domestic and regional routes following an aircraft being impounded by Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) at OR Tambo.

Fastjet Mozambique

Fastjet Mozambique suspended its domestic flight operations in Mozambique All flights including codeshare arrangements with LAM Mozambique Airlines to Maputo, Tete, Beira and Quelimane, will be suspended until further notice according to the airline. The suspension will not affect Fastjet Zimbabwe which continues to operate services between Harare, Johannesburg, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls.
