Introdution for Non-Cancellation Fee on Avis Budget Car Rental

Reservations for clients who don’t arrive are extremely costly to the car rental industry. One can imagine the cost of the vehicles standing unutilised daily because of this. As with numerous other service related industries it has become necessary to levy a fee in the event that a reservation is not cancelled for a client who does not arrive. As of the 1st of August 2016 should a renter fail to cancel their booking prior to the date and time of reservation and fail to pick up their vehicle within 24-hours of that date and time, then a charge for non- cancellation will be applied to the method of payment presented at the time of booking. The fee will be R399 (including VAT). The intention of this fee is to encourage all clients to advise Grayston Travel when their travel plans change and to cancel any reservations that are no longer required, allowing Avis the opportunity to utilise the vehicle for an alternative reservation. The non-cancellation fee is 100% avoidable if the reservation is cancelled any time prior to the time of pick up. Cancellations and modifications will still be completely free of charge.

Zika Outbreak to End in Two to Three Years

The Zika outbreak rampaging through Latin America will likely burn itself out in the next two to three years, based on the fact that people develop immunity to the virus after an initial infection. The mosquito -borne virus will become so widespread in affected countries that populations will develop what is called “herd immunity.” This occurs when a high percentage of a population has become immune to an infection either through developing natural immunity or through vaccination making a wider outbreak less likely. That would prevent further transmission of the Zika virus for at least a decade with only smaller intermittent outbreaks, because the virus is unable to infect the same person twice, due to the immune system generating antibodies to kill it the epidemic reaches a stage where there are too few people left to infect for transmission to be sustained. study author Neil Ferguson of the School of Public Health at Imperial College London said in a statement.

The End to Unabridged Birth Certificate in Sight

South Africans travelling with children internationally will no longer be required to produce an unabridged birth certificate from the 31st of October. Mayihlome Tshwete from the Department of Home Affairs was quoted saying that parents would need to apply for a new passport for their children if they want their details printed in the child’s passport. Alternatively children could travel with their current passports as long as they present an unabridged birth certificate at the time of boarding, in addition to the necessary documentation if the child is travelling alone with one parent.
