MALDIVES TO OFFER VAC-CINES TO TOURISTS

The Maldives is offering vaccinations to travellers booking a stay in the coun-try. The tourist vaccination scheme will begin once all residents of the Maldives have received their vaccina-tions. Current entry requirements for the islands are a negative PCR test and travellers will need to obtain another PCR test in the Maldives to re-enter South Africa. These tests can be done in the resorts approx. USD60-100 (R857-R1 430) per test. Many resorts are offering specials that include the cost of this test in the package price. Air Seychelles will be offering flights via the Seychelles to the Maldives. Flight duration is 9 hours and will op-erate from June to October. Contact Grayston Travel for Maldives Packag-es.

KLM/AIRFRANCE – UK TRAVEL UPDATE

UK Passport travelers are not permit-ted to travel via Amsterdam to the UK. Air France is open for travelers to the UK.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES TO RESUME FLIGHTS FROM 1 JULY

Singapore Airlines will be flying back into Cape Town from the 1st of July 2021. All travellers with recent travel history from South Africa can transit through Singapore.

MANGO TO CONTINUE FLYING

Mango will operate beyond the 8th May 2021 with availability currently until the 11th May 2021, which means travel must be within these dates. Up-date will follow next week.

ISRAEL HALTS VACCINATED TRAVELLER SCHEME

Israel’s program allowing vaccinated travelers into the country has been halted to align with government’s lat-est entry and exit regulations. Accord-ing to new regulations, only citizens and returning residents will be al-lowed entry into Israel. Even those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will still be subjected to ten-days in quarantine on condition of producing two negative PCR tests. Travelers who only complete one PCR test will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. Israel has postponed the Vac-cinated Traveler Programme indefi-nitely.

GERMANY CANCELS THE 2021 OKTOBERFEST

Oktoberfest festivities have been can-celled for a second year in a row due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19. Germany is in the middle of a lock-down that includes a ban on large gatherings. Oktoberfest typically at-tracts about 6 million visitors from around the world.

SAA GETS R2.7BN WINDFALL FOR SUBSIDIARIES INCLUD-ING MANGO AND SAA TECHNICAL

The reprioritization gives R1.6 billion to SAA Technical, R819 million to Mango Airlines and R218 million to Air Chefs. The Department of Public Enterprises requested a mechanism to transfer a portion of the business res-cue funding to SAA’s subsidiaries.

ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES BANNED FROM FLYING IN-TO THE UK

Ethiopian Airlines is banned from fly-ing into the United Kingdom as Ethio-pia is on the Red List of countries. Travelers can fly from the UK via Ad-dis Ababa to other destinations.

SA TRAVELLERS GREEN-LIGHTED FOR TANZANIA-ZANZIBAR

Tanzania has issued a modified Travel Advisory specifying that South African travelers will not be subject to a 14-day quarantine. Mango Airlines is no longer operating flights to and from Zanzibar
