LIFT CANCELS FLIGHTS

Following the country’s move to adjusted lockdown Level 4, LIFT has decided to cancel all flights on its Johannesburg – Cape Town route from 5-31 July. The schedule is set to resume and bookings remain open from 1 August 2021.

COMAIR / KULULA TEMPORARY SUSPENDALL FLIGHTS

All scheduled flights are suspended from the 5th of July to 30 July 2021.

AIR SEYCHELLES CANCELS MALDIVES FLIGHTS

Air Seychelles announces cancellation of flights to the Maldives for the 7th of July, the 14th of July and the 21st of July.

TURKEY BANS FLIGHTS FROM SEVERAL COUNTRIES

Turkey recently deemed several countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) high-risk, but allowed passengers from these countries to enter Turkey with a 72-hour PCR test and 14-day quarantine upon arrival. However, Turkey has now suspended direct flights from Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka as of the 1st of July until further notice.

NIGERIA ADDS SOUTH AFRICA TO THE RED LIST

Nigeria is adding South Africa to its list of countries for which there are stringent restrictions for arriving passengers. This is due to the spread of
The Delta variant of COVID-19. Residents who visited any of these countries within 14 days are barred from entering Nigeria.

SOUTH AFRICA EXTENDS VALIDITY OF TEMPORARY VISAS

The Minister of Home Affairs has extended the validity period of legally issued visas – that expired during the lockdown period to September the 30th. This applies to short-term visas such as a tourist visa. Longer-term temporary visas issued for three months to three years and which expired during the lockdown have also been extended until September the 30th. This applies to visas or permits for visitors who have not left South Africa since the announcement of the National State of Disaster in March 2020, and who arrived with a valid visitor’s visa between December 2019 and March 14, 2021.

SANPARKS ANNOUNCES LEVEL 4 CHANGES

SANParks in complying with government regulations has made the requisite amendments for travellers to our national parks originating from the Gauteng province. The rules for clients from Gauteng with exiting reservations are as follows: cancellation fees will not be charged and clients will be provided with the option to claim a full refund or for their deposit to be used for future reservations. Gauteng residents currently in occupation of SANPark’s accommodation facilities will be permitted to remain in the parks for the duration of their reserved stay as the regulations permit for persons who were outside the province when the regulations came into force, a once-off trip to return to their place of residence

ARGENTINA DOUBLES DOWN ON RESTRICTIONS

Authorities in Argentina have extended existing COVID-19 restrictions until July 9 and reduced international air arrivals from a cap of 2 000 people per day to 600 people per day. All ports of entry remain closed to most non-resident foreign nationals until further notice. Only citizens, legal residents, and those foreign nationals who are authorized to travel for employment, commercial, diplomatic, sporting events, or essential family reasons are allowed entry. Travelers may transit through Argentinian airports, provided they remain within the facility and their onward flight departs within 24 hours.

UAE EXTENDS BAN TO 14 COUNTRIES

The UAE has extended the ban on flights from India and 13 other countries. Flights from Liberia, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Zambia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and South Africa will remain suspended until 23h59 on July 21. Cargo flights as well as business and charter flights are exempt from the restrictions.
